DismissNicor Gas residential customers with qualifying incomes are eligible to receive total bill discounts through the Nicor Gas Low-Income Discount Program as well as waivers of deposits and late payment fees.
Who’s automatically enrolled and do not need to apply? Customers receiving Illinois LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), PIPP (Percentage of Income Payment Plan) and Nicor Gas Sharing Program benefits or waivers of deposits and late payment fees. These customers can receive between 10% and 75% total bill discounts through the Nicor Gas Low-Income Discount Program.
All other Nicor Gas residential customers can qualify for a 5% total bill discount through the Low-Income Discount Program and waivers of deposits and late payment fees, if one of the following criteria is met:

Once we receive and review your application to confirm your eligibility, your account will be enrolled in the Nicor Gas Low-Income Discount Program. Also, you will no longer be billed for deposits or late payment fees. Any previously billed or paid deposit will be canceled, and any money paid will be credited to your account within two billing cycles.

Waivers and return of deposit are not applicable to customers identified as having benefited from tampering within the past five years.
