Workforce Training and Employment (WTE) Program

The WTE program will introduce participants to the energy efficiency and weatherization industry and guide them toward employment avenues with trade allies, utilities and other enterprises. By the end of the six-week program, graduates will be prepared for a career in the growing weatherization field and will be trained to understand how a house works as a system and offer solutions that can solve common and difficult problems using building science principles. Students will learn how to conduct a home energy audit to start building a strategy to weatherize a home, as well as the skills needed to conduct air sealing, insulation, moisture control and ventilation.

The program is designed to support individuals from traditionally underrepresented and marginalized communities, as well as those from returning populations.

To qualify, you must have the following:

  • A valid driver's license or active driver permit. If you're never had a license, must have reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to accept job placement in the industry
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Ability to commit time to the program
  • Background check and drug screen (Program team will conduct after your application is submitted)
