Showerhead with water

Beat your shower time

The average family can use up to 40 gallons to shower each day, and showering accounts for 17% of a home’s water use, according to the EPA. Cutting down the average 8-minute shower to 5 minutes could save 56 gallons per week! The shower timer in the kit will help you stick to this time, so you can see the savings roll in!

Woman washing clothes

Wash clothes with cold water

Hot water heating accounts for 90% of the energy used to wash clothes, according to the EPA. Depending on the clothes and the local water quality, it’s possible to do laundry just as effectively with cold water. Not only will it help clothes last longer, it can also save energy and money in the long run!

Leaky faucet

Fix leaky faucets

Household leaks can waste nearly 1 trillion gallons of water annually nationwide! Check faucet gaskets and pipe fittings for surface leaks. A leaky shower can waste enough water to wash 60 loads of dishes, and a leaky faucet can waste up to 180 showers worth of water. By ensuring aerators are installed correctly and examining pipes, it makes a big impact to cutting down possible leaks.

Catch runoff water when washing fruits and veggies

When rinsing off fruits and vegetables, don’t let the water run down the drain. Capture it in a bowl or pan! You can use this water to boil pasta for dinner or water your plants, helping save water overall.
