Nicor Gas offers Landlords/Property Owners a Service Revert Agreement that allows you to easily maintain the flow gas to your rental property between tenants.

Our agreement provides the ability to easily transition between tenants and landlords. Landlord Reverts streamline the management of natural gas service for rental properties, which provides peace of mind and operational efficiency.

There are no fees for this service.

How do I Enroll in a Landlord Agreement with Nicor Gas?

Download and print the form or Fill out the form online. Complete all required fields including personal information, property details, and the agreement type you want (Revert or Do Not Revert). Submit the form through the website or email it to g2landlord@southernco.com

Can my tenants call to request a connection, disconnection or transfer of service?

Yes, Tenants can contact Nicor Gas to set up a new gas service account in their name when they move into your property. They can also request to stop service or transfer to another location at any time. 

Will I be notified of service interruption if my tenant is on service?

You will not be notified by Nicor Gas of a service interruption if your tenant is the primary account holder for the gas service.  Depending on the reason for the interruption will determine if a notification is sent to the Landlord/Property Manager in addition to the account holder.  

What happens if my tenant doesn’t pay their Nicor Gas bill?

If your tenant does not pay their gas bill, it can lead to several potential issues, including service disconnection. Nicor Gas offers a variety of Energy Assistance Programs for Residential Customers that may be beneficial to your tenant. It is important to remember that the landlord/property manager may not be notified of the interruption, so it is encouraged to routinely check on the status of the service at your property.  

If I sell my rental property, do I have to remove it from the Landlord program?

If you sell your rental property, it is important to update your participation in the Landlord program with Nicor Gas. You must notify Nicor Gas in writing at G2landlord@southernco.com within 10 days of the sale of your property. 

What if I sold my rental more than 10 days ago?

Upon notification that you have sold the location and no longer need your agreement, Nicor Gas will cancel the agreement.  You will still be responsible for the service up to the date that you contact Nicor Gas.
