In Illinois, nearly 1.5 million people live in poverty – more than 12% of the state's population. Many of these families struggle to receive and maintain the most basic of essentials including heat in their homes in the winter, food, housing and medical assistance.
To help customers meet these needs, the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program launched the Community Connection Center (C3) in 2022. The C3 team provides a “one-stop shop” for information about key services, sharing resources with customers that stretch beyond energy efficiency to encompass bill payment assistance, housing support, food, federal funding and other essentials.
We are celebrating two years of fueling support for the communities we serve and are looking forward to what the future of this initiative will bring!
