AMI Meter Modernization

Nicor Gas has completed 2.2 million installation sof sate-of-the-art, two-way communication devices as part of our Meter Modernization program. These smart meters will enable customers to learn more about their patterns of use and use energy more efficiently.

Investing in Illinois

Through investments in pipeline and infrastructure modernization, we reduced our annual operational emissions by nearly 500,000 MtCO2e over 2009 to 2019, a reduction of 54% over that 10-year period.

Through this program, cast iron main pipelines and copper services were retired, resulting the the safe replacement of more than 831 miles of aging, natural gas pipeline and underground storage systems. Nearly 100,000 service replacements were also conducted through the 656 communiuties Nicor Gas serves.
