The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program provides a variety of money and energy-saving offerings specifically for income-eligible customers. From free home assessments and energy-saving products to weatherization services, we have resources to help you save money and energy at home. See eligibility guidelines below.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for income eligible offerings, you must be a Nicor Gas customer and total household income must be at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI). AMI varies based on location. The chart describes the maximum qualifying household income for most of the Chicago metropolitan area.
You may already qualify if you have received:
- Supplemental Security Income or disability benefits
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program grants
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits
- Section 8 rental assistance

Home Energy Savings Offering
Start your energy efficiency journey by completing a free home assessment.
- Receive a customized report identifying opportunities to save money and energy in your home
- Get free energy-saving products to help you start saving right away
- Qualifying customers may be eligible to receive additional free weatherization improvements
Free Weatherization Services
Free weatherization services may be available to qualifying households, including:
- Air sealing
- Wall and attic insulation
- Furnace repair/replacement
- Health and safety upgrades and more!
Services are provided through the Home Energy Savings offering or through the Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP) based on eligibility.
Free Energy-Saving Kits
Get savings delivered to your door with one of our free kits. Free products include:
Water Kits: Efficient showerheads, kitchen and bath aerators, shower timer and plumbers tape
Weatherization Kits: outlet draft sealers, weatherstripping, rope caulk and door sweeps
Community Connection Center
This FREE service connects you with a variety of support options including bill payment assistance, energy-saving offerings, basic needs assistance and so much more.
